The filth is too much to bear. Just walking down the streets, you can see that the rats far outnumber the people here. Your inn is only a short distance away, but you're uneasy just going there. The inside is only marginally better, with no fewer rats, a more stagnant smell, but with all the lifeless bodies lying about at least still breathing. Some of those still breathing are also still drinking. You could join them or retire to your quarters.
