Destroy key structures to cripple resistance.

You pack up all the explosives you can handle and head out. Luckily, you'll be avoiding most of the combat today, just shooting at whatever dog-sized insects get in your way as you lay the groundwork. You step on the transporter and, after a moment of mild nausea, your molecules are reconfigured on this strange planet.

The first thing you notice is that there are more of these bugs than you expected. The air is thick with them, and it's a real struggle to keep them off of you as you plant the first explosive. You manage, with only one coming close to injuring you and instead being stopped by your backpack. You think about that as you're setting the timmer, and as soon as you secure a safe moment for youself, you take a look at the backpack.

The bugs seem to have some sort of corrosive coating on their stingers, and you're luck to have looked, because there's currently very little material holding your supplies in place. That's when it occurs to you that you need to check the actual goods and make sure they're not damaged, as it could trigger and premature and particularly unfortunate explosion. You do have time to think about that, but you only consider it too late. Just as you lean your head over your backpack and open it up, the insectoid acid reaches the critical component of one explosive, and the whole thing erupts in flames. You are instantly vaporized, your mission's chances of success dying with you.

Perhaps some aerosol wasp killer would have been a more appropriate weapon.
