Blushing a little, you explain that you really prefer something a little more mellow. "Oh em gee," she says, "did you really say Rick Springfield?"
"Uh, yeah?" you respond.
"That's so cool!" she almost shrieks. "I love Rick Springfield!"
"This is starting to sound a little inauthentic," you confess.
"What do you mean?" she asks.
"Well, you just said that," you tell her in reply.
"What do you mean?" she asks.
"Ugh," you say, "you just said that." You clench your eyes shut and picture a better world. "This is getting frustrating," you say to her.
"What do you mean?" she asks.
Finally, mercifully, you will yourself awake and away from that broken record of a person.
