Jump for a low branch.

You leap up, grabbing the highest limb you think you can reach, and start to pull yourself up. You had hoped to escape the assult to so arboreal safety, but as you watch monkeys clamber up the trees as if laughing in the face of gravity, you realize your tactic was perhaps not well thought out. As it turns out, though, the tree-climbing prowess of your foes is irrellevant; as you're hoisting yourself onto the branch, you hear a thick crack, and then you're falling. They leap on you in a single mass and snuff you out like a candle in the breeze.

Maybe you should challenge them to a banana eating contest?
