Hang up.

You decide you would rather not spend the remainder of eternity being put down by your former employer, and you think you understand the gist of what's being said, so you end the call without further ado. Before you even get a chance to breathe a sigh of relief, there's a knock at the door. Already standing, you go promptly to answer it, and swing the portal open to reveal the same employer who had left those messages behind it.

"Hey, buddy, you worthless old sack of garbage! I hope you got my message? Anyway, I wanted to personally bring by your severence package," he tells you.

"My severence package?" you echo.

"That's right," he says, "and I'll see you in hell." Suddenly, there's a gun in his hand that you hadn't noticed before and that gun is leveled at your face. In movies, there's typically a moment of hesitation in which the protagonist can move, parry, or be saved by the deus ex machina, but that's in movies. Unfortunately, this person does not hesitate, and the bullet is much faster than you are.
